Kaokoland (mixed) - 4×4 tour

The very special safari through fabulous Kaokoland in Namibia: a combination of motorbike- & 4x4 tour.

This tour is an absolute dream for the experienced enduro rider. Its is the most challenging tour in our program and offers extreme landscapes, beautiful nature and very unique accommodation. Team spirit, good overall condition, concentration and very good riding skills are required to participate in this rather challenging 12 -day enduro tour. Due to the fact that this wonderful tour can only be done by experienced off road riders, we combine this tour for self driving 4x4 guests to join. The “warm-up” starts from Gravel Travel home base at Windhoek Mountain Lodge with a fairly extensive driving session across a variety of landscapes on first stage between up to Uis close to famous Brandberg mountain. The next stage will take us to barely recognisable tracks across sand and dry river beds surrounding Brandberg and into the rocky northern Damaraland, via Palmwag to Opuwo in the Kaokoland. Thereafter we will dive into the sparsely populated regions of bush terrain taking the legendary Van Zyl’s Pass down to mysterious landscapes of Marienfluss valley with its nomadic Himba people. Okahirongo River Camp at the Kunene river banks is the northernmost point and will offer you a well-deserved break. Following sandy and rocky tracks that at times almost run parallel to the Skeleton Coast Park eventually lead back through ravishingly beautiful southern Damaraland and Cape Cross at Atlantic Ocean and even make a turn to the Namib Desert before heading home through the Khomas Hochland to Windhoek Mountain Lodge.
